Advanced Placement (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States created by the College Board that offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the College Board by a panel of experts and college-level educators in that field of study.

How can I take an AP Exam in Dubai?

Step 1: Create a College Board account by completing this form on: (https://cbaccount.collegeboard.org/iamweb/smartRegister), then verify your email and choose your password. Make sure you create only one account, it’s all you need to manage your College Board activities. Creating multiple accounts could make it difficult to access your information.

Step 2: If you go to a school that doesn’t administer AP Exams, you’ll need to arrange to take exams at a local school that does administer them. Review the AP Course Ledger on https://apcourseaudit.inflexion.org/ledger

The AP Course Ledger is the official, up-to-date, comprehensive list of schools that have passed the AP Course Audit. You can search by country, state/province, or city to find a school where you might be able to test. After finding schools near you that offer the course you want to take exams for, contact the selected school and speak with the school’s AP coordinator to test there. Currently 33 schools in Dubai offer AP exams.

Note: that schools may have their own local deadlines and policies for receiving requests from outside students to test at their school, so you’ll want to give yourself as much time as possible to contact schools. The exam-ordering deadline for schools is November 15.

Step 3: Ensure you’ve joined your class section online through Sign in to My AP with your College Board account. (Use your College Board username and password to sign in to My AP).

Register—or confirm your existing registration—in My AP.

If your school requires you to indicate your exam registration, you'll see a Register button in your class section view in My AP. You’ll need to join your class section online in order to register for the exam. Your school’s AP coordinator will order your exam materials and collect all fees. The deadline to register for exams is in the fall, but specific deadlines may vary by school—be sure to check with your AP coordinator.

Once you have selected to register, the date and time of your exam will appear in your course card in My AP. You can review the exam schedule and talk with your AP coordinator if you have any questions about the start time for the exam you’re scheduled to take. Your AP coordinator will notify you when and where to report for the exams.

The AP coordinator at the selected school will give you a join code to join the class section online. You’ll receive a unique code for each AP class you’re taking and will need to enter each separately.

Step 4: Check the course information. Make sure the information that comes up is for the course you are taking. If it is, click yes.

Step 5: Fill out registration information. If this is your first time joining a class, you’ll need to provide some additional information. You only have to do this once.

Exam Fees

The school AP coordinator is responsible for collecting the exam fees, it is not payable on the website. The exam fee is US$126/AED463. However the selected school may require you to pay a higher fee than listed to cover proctoring and administration costs.
